Revision Summary

    • Integrated minimum health and environmental requirements for all projects
    • Clarified the options for demonstrating innovation
    • Clarified eligibility requirements
    • Revised the program scope to include products-only
    • More clearly outlined certification requirements
    • Aligned requirements with existing Green Seal standards, where appropriate
    • Streamlined the presentation of the standard, as well as the corresponding business process

Substantive changes were made to the following sections in the GS-20 Standard:

    • Eligibility Requirements
    • Product Lifecycle Impact Review Requirements
    • Innovation Requirements
      • Clarified how Green Seal defines an innovation, and how to demonstrate each aspect of a qualifying innovation
    • Functional Performance and Fitness for Purpose Requirements
      • Aligned requirements with other Green Seal standards, where appropriate
      • Integrated additional disclosure requirements for applicants using the “Improved Function” option to demonstrate their innovation
    • Environmental and Human Health Requirements
      • Aligned requirements with foundational requirements from other Green Seal Standards
      • Outlined how Green Seal determines the level of disclosure required for each applicant product, depending on product form and potential for human exposure and environmental releases
    • Packaging Requirements
      • Aligned requirements with other Green Seal standards
    • Certification and Labeling Requirements
      • Aligned requirements with other Green Seal standards
      • Introduced a time-limited certification period (4-years)
