Ed Chen

Ed Chen, for the past 12 years, served as the federal communications director at the Natural Resources Defense Council. He recently departed to begin work on a novel about climate change. He is an author of three nonfiction books, one of which is about the environment, public health, and politics. Ed brings strong media and communications experience, having worked in environmental law, sustainable development, corporate social responsibility, and sustainable business.

Prior to becoming an environmental advocate, he spent three-plus decades as a political journalist in Washington, covering Congress, the White House, and five presidential campaigns. He has reported for the Los Angeles Times and Bloomberg News from more than 50 countries. In 2009-2010, Chen served as president of the White House Correspondents’ Association. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University.
