Michelle Legatt

Michelle Legatt is the founder and director of Lab in the Woods, an eco-consultancy focused on accelerating the adoption of sustainable materials and safe chemistry within the consumer goods industry. By integrating technical expertise with strategic de-risking, Legatt accelerates the implementation of resilient systems and provides the clarity necessary to transform complex supply chain barriers into measurable progress for lowering environmental impacts.

Legatt has more than 20 years of experience in materials research, front-end innovation, and the strategic implementation of sustainable materials and chemistry. Her background includes 15 years of technical leadership at 3M, Patagonia, and Hasbro, where she progressed from research chemist to leading global sustainability programs. In these capacities, she spearheaded cross-functional strategies to minimize environmental impacts.

Legatt earned a B.S. in chemistry from Arkansas State University and a M.S. in materials science and engineering from Columbia University.
