CleanBoss on Changing the World to Non-Toxic

By Green Seal

Co-founded by entrepreneur Joy Mangano and global artist Pitbull, CleanBoss is on a mission to redefine what it means to clean effectively and responsibly. We spoke with Joy about what sets CleanBoss’s approach apart and how they’re delivering safety and performance to the highest standard.

Tell us the story behind CleanBoss.

Most people want to clean without harming their health or the environment. They make the switch, try a “non-toxic” product — and too often, it doesn’t work. It doesn’t disinfect well enough. It doesn’t cut through grime. It doesn’t perform under real-world conditions. So they go back to the toxic stuff. And when that happens, we don’t just lose a customer — we lose years, sometimes decades, of progress.

That failure doesn’t just hurt one brand. It sets the entire movement back.

CleanBoss was built to change the world from toxic to non-toxic once and for all.

Our mission is not simply to offer a safer alternative — it’s to end the false tradeoff between effectiveness and non-toxicity. We believe the only way the world truly moves forward is if non-toxic products work better than the toxic ones people are being pushed toward. Full stop.

That belief drives everything we do: how we formulate, how we test, and why we hold ourselves to the highest third-party standards. When someone finally makes the switch to CleanBoss, we want that to be the last switch they ever have to make.

Because when it works — and it works better — people stick. Habits change. Homes get healthier. And progress becomes permanent.

What brought Joy Mangano and Pitbull together?

I found an unexpected partner in grime in global superstar Pitbull, CleanBoss’s co-founder.

As a first-generation Cuban American, Pitbull watched his mother clean homes for a living to keep food on their table. This fight is personal for him and he’s paying homage to his late mother as a co-founder of CleanBoss.

He remembers his mother mixing her own cleaning products to clean homes. So he understands how important it is to know what goes into our products, and how much the world needs a strong cleaning arsenal with no toxic warnings — that still gets the job done.

What product, innovation, or accomplishment are you most proud of from a sustainability standpoint?

The Green Seal certification of our Multi-Surface Disinfectant is one of our most meaningful accomplishments because it validates our core belief: sustainability only matters if performance holds up in the real world.

Green Seal is not a marketing label — it’s a rigorous, science-based evaluation of both environmental impact and efficacy. Achieving this certification proves that CleanBoss doesn’t ask consumers to compromise. Our disinfectant meets the highest standards for human and environmental health while delivering the level of performance required to earn lasting trust.

That trust is what keeps people from reverting back — and that’s how real, long-term change happens.

What kind of health or sustainability features and information are your customers looking for today?

Today’s customers are done with greenwashing. They want proof that a product is safer and effective enough to replace what they’ve been using for years.

They’re asking smart questions:
Is this actually disinfecting?
Is it safe around kids, pets, and high-touch surfaces?
Is there third-party verification behind these claims?

They’re not looking for perfection — they’re looking for confidence. CleanBoss meets that moment by backing every claim with transparency, testing, and certifications that stand up to scrutiny.

What differentiates CleanBoss disinfectant from others on the market?

Most disinfectants still rely on harsh chemicals that require gloves, warnings, and rinsing. Many non-toxic options, on the other hand, simply don’t perform at the level people need.

CleanBoss is different because it refuses to accept that tradeoff. Our botanical-based disinfectant is engineered to work in real environments — homes, daycares, high-touch spaces — without toxic residue or overwhelming fumes. Green Seal certification further differentiates CleanBoss by independently confirming that our disinfectant delivers both safety and performance at the highest standard.

When people use CleanBoss, it doesn’t feel like a downgrade. It feels like an upgrade.

Why did you partner with Green Seal?

We partnered with Green Seal because we believe transparency and credibility are essential to progress. Green Seal represents one of the most respected, science-driven standards in environmental health, and their certification process aligns with our belief that non-toxic products must be proven — not promised.

Being spotlighted by Green Seal reinforces that CleanBoss is part of a larger shift toward solutions that actually move the market forward. Third-party validation helps ensure that when consumers make the switch, they can trust it will stick.

What’s next for CleanBoss?

We’re focused on continuing to raise the bar for what non-toxic products can — and should — deliver. That means expanding formats that reduce waste and plastic, advancing formulations that protect human health without sacrificing power, and working with partners who share our commitment to real standards, not shortcuts.

Our long-term goal is simple but ambitious: wake the world up to a new way of clean and start a clean revolution.
